Cream-Cheese Tart Dough

Recipe information

  • Yield

makes enough for one 9-inch tart

Ingredients

1 cup all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
6 tablespoons unsalted butter, cold, cut into small pieces
3 ounces cream cheese, cold

Preparation

  1. Step 1

Place flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in the bowl of a food processor, and pulse several times to combine. Add the butter, and pulse until pieces are the size of peas. Add the cream cheese, and pulse until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

    Step 2

Turn out the dough onto a piece of plastic wrap; use the plastic to help bring the dough together into a ball. Flatten to form a square, and wrap well with plastic. Chill the dough for at least 1 hour and up to 1 day before using.
